Open letter to Fat Lad At The Back: Help me, I feel outweighed!

Vorig jaar maakte ik kennis met Fat Lad At The Back (FLATB).

Simpel: smeken….

Hello,

Last October www.bikeradar.com introduced me to your company. Cycling kit for plus sized bikers. My first reaction was: How refreshingly British! The combination of high BMI and self-deprecation, I think it’s really cool. So I started following your blog and your twitter. What struck me is that you guys talk about actually having fun on the bike. Riding together instead of just hammering away. And you have your own beer too! This is not business as usual in XC town, i can tell you that. It sounded like a community instead of a war zone. And I wanted to be part of it.

My first step in joining your community would be to buy some of your kit and to review it on Velozine. The only problem is, well… to use your own logo:

Your logo…

… adjusted to scale to depict me:

I’m just too darn skinny for your kit! Even being somewhat heavier than in my racing days, with 6’3 and 154 pounds, my BMI is the inverse function of the typical FLTAB rider….

skinnylad03Me looking Froomish in my M sized VZ jersey.

And i tried to fit in. Literally. Oh, how i did. From october up until now I DID the extra mayo . But it’s just not enough. There’s probably still enough of me to even fill a 36 jersey… I’m afraid that i’ll never be a fat lad at the back. :-(

I’m on the verge of doing something stupid, so please help me! Is there anything else I can do? Is there anything you can do? Is there any hope of Slim lined “FLATB candidate” kit? Please let me know!

With best regards,

ps. While i’m at it: Seeing you’re also making kit for the lasses, the VZ ladies kind of have the same problems as I do. So we would like to suggest…
